Raymond Eggert

Ray Eggert was named FPU Head Swimming & Diving Coach in April 2025.

A former Sunbird swimmer, Eggert was part of the foundational years of men's swimming at FPU.  He served as one of the program's first team captains, helped lead the team to a NAIA national championship in 2010, and was an individual national champion in the 400m medley relay.  Additionally, Eggert's performance in the 400m individual medley has earned him a place in FPU's all-time record books that still stands.  His experience as a student-athlete instilled in him a deep passion for the sport, as well as a commitment to hard work, flexibility, and faith which are integral qualities that have shaped his leadership in and out of the pool.

"Ray is a product of our program, and his heart for FPU and our student-athletes is evident in everything he does," said Director of Athletics Kyle Ferguson.  "He brings energy, perspective, and a commitment to building something meaningful, and we are thrilled to welcome him back to lead our swim and dive programs."

Eggert returned to FPU after serving as head swim coach at Sanger High School.  He led his team to back-to-back CMAC Championships in 2022–23 and 2023–24 and guided swimmers to top performances at the CIF Central Section Championships.  He previously served as Director of Swimming for both the boy's and girl's programs at Clovis North High School from 2011 to 2015.

The Clovis native graduated from Sanger High, where he swam on back-to-back League Championship-winning teams.  At FPU, Eggert also played three years of water polo under head coach Bryan Suhovy.

Eggert is passionate about building a culture rooted in friendship, family, and faith, and he places high value on developing student-athletes as whole people, not just competitors.  He credits much of his growth to former FPU coach and current University of Arizona Associate Head Coach Peter Richardson, whose influence continues to guide his coaching philosophy.

"Ray was one of the first team captains at Fresno Pacific and helped lead the program to a national title," said Richardson.  "He is an absolute grinder who cares deeply about people.  We've had countless conversations about swimming and life, and he just gets it.  The Sunbirds are in great hands, and I am confident he will build FPU back into a championship program."

Eggert and wife Meagan live in Sanger with their four children - Selena, Leonard, Dean, and Daniel.
