Michael Sun

Michael Sun joined FPU Athletics as Assistant Sports Perfomance Coach in August 2025.

Sun has extensive experience across NCAA Division I and II settings, including key roles at Point Loma Nazarene University, where he led Sports Performance for the nationally ranked baseball team and implemented fatigue monitoring systems, and at UC Davis, where he supported a wide range of teams and performance testing protocols. His background also includes work in personal training, group fitness, biomechanics education, CSCS prep instruction, and ministry leadership.

He holds multiple certifications, including NSCA-CSCS, ACE-CPT, and Schwinn Cycling Instructor, and has a passion for athlete development, data-driven programming, and mentorship within the sports performance field.  In addition to overseeing Sports Performance programs for Sunbird men’s and women’s swimming & diving, men’s and women’s track & field, men’s and women’s tennis, and men’s soccer, he is also in charge of leading Sports Performance intern education and sports science integration initiatives.

Sun holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Religious Studies from UC Davis, and a master’s in Kinesiology – Sports Performance from Point Loma Nazarene University.
