Matt Mazzoni was named Fresno Pacific University's Major Gift Officer in 2024.
Prior to his appointment, Mazzoni served as FPU's Assistant Athletics Director for External Relations since 2019, where he was responsible for fundraising and overseeing the communications efforts for the athletics department. Under his leadership, Fresno Pacific University won two Athletics Communications Office of the Year awards from the PacWest Conference. Mazzoni played a crucial role in fundraising for the new Dan Martin Stadium for FPU baseball as well as the new track resurface in 2024. From 2014 to 2019, he had active roles in the communications department - first as Assistant Director of Athletics Communications for two years and then as Director of Athletics Communications for three. He also spent one year as Athletics Communications Assistant at UC San Diego.
Mazzoni's journey with Fresno Pacific began as a student-athlete, sports information student assistant, and graduate intern. On the FPU Diamond, Mazzoni had an outstanding four-year career as a pitcher for the Sunbird baseball team. He graduated as the program's all-time leader in career strikeouts, ranked second in wins, and finished in the top five in ERA and opponents' batting average. The Sunbirds reached the national postseason in three of his four years.
A native of Fresno, Mazzoni attended San Joaquin Memorial High School and excelled in both baseball and basketball. He graduated from FPU with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies. Mazzoni is married to his wife, Skylar, and they have four children. The family attends The Well Community Church at Fig Garden.
