As a Freshman (2018) - Appeared in 11 matches for the Sunbirds....picked up first collegiate assist against Metro State (8/25)....recorded three kills against Central Washington (8/25)....solo block against Notre Dame de Namur (9/17)....totaled five blocks and nine kills for the year....named Academic All-PacWest.

Prior to FPU - Prepped at Quartz Hill High School and spent three seasons on the varsity team under head coach Dave Gutierrez....named Most Improved and Most Inspirational....was the chair of the decoration committee and class valedictorian.

Personal - Daughter of Naeemah and Jaleel Ghafur....has a sibling named Jilani....favorite TV show is Grey's Anatomy....enjoys listening to Beyoncé....roots for the Los Angeles Clippers....favorite athlete is Michael Jordan....Marya is a biology major with a minor in Spanish.
