Michelle Gibson (formerly Johnson) joined the FPU volleyball coaching staff in 2016. A two-time national champion for the Sunbirds as a player, Gibson was a key member of the 2009 and 2010 championship teams.
In her two seasons with the team the Sunbirds posted an overall record of 73-2. A versatile player, Gibson contributed as an outside hitter, right side and middle blocker. During her career she played in 73 matches, totaling 459 kills, 224 digs and 166 blocks.
Gibson attended Bakersfield Christian High School before spending two seasons at Sacramento City College where she was league MVP, first team all-state and a first team junior college All-American. She helped lead her team to a third place state finish in 2007.
