Art Tamayo

Art Tamayo was named an assistant coach with the volleyball program in June of 2017. He brings to FPU more than 10 years of experience as a volleyball coach at several different levels.

Tamayo most recently served as an assistant at Fresno City College, which included nine seasons under head coach Tracy Ainger-Schulte. He helped the Rams to nine consecutive conference titles and two state Final Four appearances as the defensive specialists coach.

Prior to FCC, Tamayo served as the head coach of the Bronco Elite Volleyball Club from 2012-13. He coached at Fresno High School for more than 10 years as the boy's (1997-2010) and girl's (1997-2003) head coach as well.

In addition to coaching, Tamayo currently teaches science at Hamilton K-8 School while also serving as the co-coordinator of the W.E.B. program. He also serves as an adjunct professor in the physical education department at FCC.

Outside of coaching and teaching, Tamayo enjoys golfing, snowboarding, pop-culture trivia, Oakland Raider football, the Marvel cinematic universe and Game of Thrones.
