As a Junior (2018) – appeared in 20 games for the Sunbirds, netting four goals on .800 shooting….also tallied nine assists, six steals, four drawn exclusions, one block and a 22-4 sprint record.

Prior to FPU - Prepped at El Diamante High School and competed on the men's water polo team under head coach Ryan Davis and Rory Collinwood....two-time team MVP....two-time All-Valley First Team and All-League First Team member....scored 89 goals, dished out 78 assists and totaled 123 steals....also competed on the swimming team where he was named a three-time team MVP....earned the Miner Athlete of the Year award.

Personal - Son of Michael and Victoria Bruening....has two siblings named Erin and Megan....person he most admires is head coach Bryan Suhovy....favorite movie is Braveheart....favorite song is Sk8r Boi by Avril Lavigne....roots for the Cleveland Browns....person he would most like to meet is Emma Watson....collects vinyl records as a hobby....Cal is a political science and history major with career plans of becoming a lawyer.
