Former USA International Nathan Smith joined Coach Cameron Shahrokhi’s staff in the fall of 2025.

The Clovis native starred at NCAA Division I soccer powerhouse UCLA and was a two-time All-Pac-12 selection for the Bruins.  The defender signed with MLS side LA Galaxy and would make over 40 appearances for the organization.  His career continued with Portland Timbers II, Orange County SC, and Central Valley Fuego.  In 2021, Smith became a USL Cup champion with Orange County SC.

On the International level, Smith was a regular for the United States U17 team, making over 20 appearances between 2009-2011.  Smith scored the winning goal in the 2011 CONCACAF U17 Championships Final over rival Canada.

Smith played club soccer for California Odyssey SC for five years, and was part of the LA Galaxy Academy before committing to UCLA.

Following his professional career, Smith began coaching youth soccer for California Odyssey SC in the NPL and ECNL leagues, and is currently leading the 07/08 Boys.  He was the head coach of boy’s varsity soccer at San Joaquin Memorial High School from 2024-2025.

Smith resides in the Fresno area, and earned a bachelors degree in History.
