Nate McClurg

Nate McClurg was hired as a men's basketball assistant in April of 2017 and was promoted to Associate Head Coach in June of 2024.

McClurg came to FPU from Immanuel High School, where he accumulated a record of 48-15 in two seasons at the helm. He led the Eagles to a Central Sequoia League title and two Central Section Championships. While at Immanuel, McClurg served as an integral part in the development of four college players and helped guide them through the recruiting process. He coached Tulane point guard Colin Slater, Cal State Bakersfield signee Darrin Person Jr., Hendrix College wing Zach Prins and former Sunbird R.J. Horn.

In the 2016-2017 season, McClurg led Immanuel to the Southern California Division IV Regional Final. The previous year, Immanuel's season came to an end in the state open division playoffs, losing to the consensus number one team in the country Chino Hills.

McClurg has coached at the prep levels in Fresno for over 12 years. He played for two years at West Hills College for head coach Mark Arce, before finishing his career at Eastern Oregon University.

“Nate is as hard working and intelligent individual as you will find anywhere in our industry. His ability to anticipate and be forward thinking is beyond impressive, and his encyclopedic basketball IQ is compelling. His relentlessness in service, his unmatched work ethic, and his ability to connect with young people are all significant assets. He makes our program better in a myriad of ways every single day.”
