A.J. Shearon was hired as the lead assistant for the men's basketball program in May of 2016. Shearon comes to FPU after coaching locally at Liberty High School - Bakersfield where he led the Patriots to three league championships and one valley title.
 
Shearon most recently served as the head varsity coach at Liberty the last six seasons. He posted an overall record of 119-58, which included a Central Section Division II title in 2010.
 
Shearon began his coaching career at Liberty in 2005, where he spent five seasons in various roles as an assistant, head coach of the junior varsity programs and co-head coach of the varsity team.

Shearon graduated from CSU Bakersfield with a degree in history.
