As a Junior (2014) - Appeared in 20 games as an outfielder and pinch-runner for the national champion Sunbirds.....scored eight runs and was 5-for-5 on stolen-base attempts....at the plate went 2-for-12....scored four runs and had four stolen bases during the World Series.

Prior to FPU - Played two seasons at Reedley College under coach Steve Pearse....prepped at Sanger High School where he played four years of baseball, including two on varsity for coach Dan Wild....earned the team's offensive MVP as a junior and was named defensive MVP as a senior....also played football and was a first team all-league selection....was named a scholar-athlete and on the Dean's list at Reedley College.

Personal - Born November 14....son of Henry and Pat Payan....has a brother, Hank and a sister, Steph....sister played softball at Cal Poly SLO....people he admires most are his family....favorite team is the San Francisco Giants....favorite athlete is Barry Bonds....attends St. Mary's Church....hobbies include golf, fishing and camping....Nico is a kinesiology major.
