Sid Lacy

  • Title
    Pitching Coach

Sid Lacy was named Fresno Pacific pitching coach in 2024, bringing a strong foundation of playing and coaching experience to the Sunbirds’ staff.

Prior to joining FPU, Lacy spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Reedley College under legendary head coach Steve Pearse. During his tenure, he played a key role in guiding the Tigers to back-to-back playoff appearances in 2022 and 2023—including a historic run to the program’s first-ever Super Regionals.

Lacy’s coaching credentials were further solidified in his first year at FPU when pitchers Connor Semone and Jaylen Rodriguez ranked among the top arms in the PacWest Conference. Semone finished the season ranked 6th in ERA and 2nd in innings pitched, while Rodriguez compiled a 7-0 record and led the conference in fewest walks allowed – allowing only eight batters across 53.2 innings pitched – while also earning PacWest Pitcher of the Week honors.

A native of the Central Valley, Lacy played at Clovis High School under legendary coach James Patrick and helped lead the Cougars to the CIF Division I Central Section Championship in 2014. In two years at Reedley College, he was a key part of two playoff teams – including the program’s first postseason appearance in over six decades.  As an All-Conference closer, Lacy led the state in saves, had a 2.48 ERA and struck out 29 in 32.2 innings.

After finishing his collegiate career at Chico State under head coach Dave Taylor, Lacy was the closer for the Victoria HarbourCats (British Columbia, Canada) of the West Coast League, where he recorded a 2.25 ERA over 12 innings.

In addition to coaching at FPU, Lacy is the founder of Lacy Baseball LLC, a private training company he launched in 2020. Since its inception, he has worked with over 300 athletes across the Central Valley, including 2024 Los Angeles Dodgers draft pick Will Gagnon.
