    Infield Coach

Karlan Andrews joined the Fresno Pacific baseball staff in 2022 as infield coach.  The former Sunbird brings a wealth of experience as both a player and coach at the high school, collegiate, and professional levels.

The Visalia native graduated from Redwood High School and was a standout shortstop from 2005–2008. He played varsity baseball all four years under coaches Joe Garcia and Mario Celillo, earning All-League honors twice, and was a four-time Tulare County First Team selection. In 2008, he was named Tulare County Player of the Year and was selected as the Fresno Bee's First Team All-Valley shortstop. He also earned team MVP honors twice during his prep career.

Andrews continued his playing career at Fresno Pacific University under head coach Oscar Hirschkorn from 2009–2012. As a key part of the program, he helped the Sunbirds to the 2009 NAIA World Series and two more regional appearances in 2010 and 2011, contributing to a 133-86 overall record during his collegiate career.

Following his playing days, Andrews transitioned into coaching, beginning in 2013 as an infield coach at Central Valley Christian in Visalia. He returned to his alma mater, Redwood High School, from 2014–2020 as an assistant and infield coach. During that time, the Rangers made three CIF Central Section championship appearances, winning two Valley titles and three league championships.

From 2019–2021, Andrews served as an associate scout for the Texas Rangers.

In addition to his role at Fresno Pacific, Andrews is the owner, founder, and coach of Infield Development Academy (IDA) in Visalia.  Since 2020, IDA has trained and mentored countless infielders including over 10 prep players who would excel at the collegiate level.
