As a Junior (2017) - Appeared in 13 games for the Sunbirds and made eight starts....totaled 79 saves and held a save percentage of .436....had three games with 10 or more saves....totaled 12 saves against Loyola Marymount (9/16)....posted 13 blocks against in a win against Penn State Behrend (10/7)....had a career best 14 saves against Concordia (11/18).

As a Sophomore (2016) - Appeared in eight games for the Sunbirds and made two starts....totaled 34 saves and recorded a save percentage of .354.

Prior to FPU - Spent one year on the water polo team at Sierra College under head coach Bruce Hastie....posted 80 saves, no turnovers and a 46% blocked shot margin....also competed on the swim and dive team....prior to that, competed for four years on the water polo team at Roseville High School, including two years on varsity under head coach Brad Molina....two-time team captain....second team all-league pick....team MVP....Capital Valley Conference MVP....CIF Sac-Joaquin section first team pick....posted 341 saves, a 6.9 GAA and a 9.7 SG average on his senior season....also competed on his high school basketball and volleyball teams....member of the President's Honor Roll....two-time USA Water Polo Academic All-American honoree.

Personal - Son of Michael and Susan Costa....has two siblings, Tony and Carly....his dad, Michael, played football at Butte College....loves eating ice cream....favorite movie is Tombstone....likes to listen to music by Stevie Ray Vaughan....hobbies include playing guitar and video games....Joseph is a communications major.
