As a Sophomore (2016) - PacWest Runner of the Week (9/20)....All-PacWest....set an FPU record for an 8k course with a time of 24:30.60 at the Stanford Invitational (10/1)….performed well at the PacWest Championships (28:33.87, 17th), where he propelled the team to a fourth-place finish overall (tying FPU’s highest-ever finish since joining the PacWest)….led the FPU squad at the NCAA West Regionals, completing the 10k course in 31:24.48, good for 44th overall.

As a Freshman (2015) - Runner of the Week (10/20)....was an important piece of the FPU team that finished 4th in the PacWest (FPU's highest finish since joining the conference)....was FPU's top finisher in the Santa Clara Invitational, running the 8k course in an impressive 25:27.0 (10/17)....performed well in the NCAA West Region Championship, completing the 10k course in 32:14.59 (11/7).

Prior to FPU - Spent four seasons on the varsity team at Kingsburg High School under head coach Robert Hernandez...two-time champion of the John Seaman Invitational...won the 2014 D-IV Central Section Championship by 45 seconds and finished third in the D-IV State Meet...also played two seasons of varsity soccer for the Vikings.

Personal - Parents are Fernando and Juana Torres...has two siblings named Evan and Gicela...favorite food is a Chipotle burrito...favorite movie is Interstellar...enjoys reading "Running with the Buffaloes"...roots for FC Barcelona...favorite athlete is Ben True...hobbies include playing paintball...attends Our Lady of Sorrows church...Alex is a kinesiology major with plans on becoming a physical therapist.
