As a Junior (2011) - Played in 23 games, making nine starts for the Sunbirds as an infielder/pitcher....at the plate batted .281 in 32 at-bats with 4 doubles and 5 RBI....pitched 9 2/3 innings on the mound, finishing with a 5.59 ERA and striking out 4....went 2-for-4 vs. Azusa Pacific in the GSAC playoffs (5/4)....had a key pinch-hit RBI double in the NAIA Opening Round vs. Belhaven (5/12)....had one of the defensive plays of the year with a leaping stop at second base....earned NAIA & GSAC Scholar Athlete honors.

As a Sophomore (2010)- A part of the Sunbird rotation, Hawes appeared in 16 games and made 13 starts....in 76 innings pitched went 4-6 with a 5.90 ERA, striking out 68 batters while walking just 23....threw 6 scoreless innings, striking out 10 to earn the win vs. Bethany (2/12)....tossed five scoreless innings in win over Academy of Art (2/19)....earned a conference road win on March 3, throwing 7 1/3 innings, giving up 1 earned run and striking out 8 to beat Concordia....struck out 10 in loss to Vanguard (4/14)....threw eight innings, striking out a career-high 11 batters in win vs. San Diego Christian (4/28).

As a Freshman (2009) - David played in 17 of the Sunbirds’ 60 games, 14 of which were starts on the mound...He batted .333 while having only 18 at-bats...His on-base percentage was .435...He spent most of his time on the mound, pitching 75.2 innings and earning a record of 5-4 in 14 starts...David's ERA was 3.81...He held his opponents' batting average to only .246, 3rd best on the team...He ended the season with 49 strikeouts...He rounded out the top 10 players in the GSAC with the lowest ERAs and was 4th in GSAC for opposing batting average.

Prior to FPU - Prepped at Mariposa High School under coach Bruce Vegely...His team won the league and section championship in his senior year...was named Southern Athletic League MVP.
