Sunbird Family,
This is one of those times in the year where you can feel things coming together across the department. There's a rhythm to the spring season where the work that's been put in over months starts to show itself, and right now we're seeing that in a number of meaningful ways.
Our men's track and field program delivered in a big way, earning a conference championship and continuing to set a strong standard for consistency and performance. Our women's team also had an excellent meet, finishing third at the conference championships and showing the depth and competitiveness of that group.
Women's water polo had a strong showing as well, going 3–1 at the WWPA Tournament and competing at a high level when it mattered most. Both of our tennis programs qualified for the conference tournament, with the women finishing third and continuing their strong season by earning a spot in the NCAA Tournament. They'll face Azusa Pacific University on May 8, which is a great opportunity for that group and a reflection of the work they've put in all year.
Baseball has positioned itself well down the stretch and remains in the mix for the conference tournament. It's been encouraging to watch their growth over the course of the season and how they've responded in important moments.
At the same time, some of the most impactful moments we've had recently haven't been tied to competition. Flight Night is our annual awards ceremony and continues to be one of the most meaningful nights of the year. It gives us the opportunity to pause and recognize not just performance, but the kind of people our student-athletes are becoming. Leadership, service, character, and faith were all on display, and those are the things that ultimately define us.
As we look ahead, there's still important work in front of us. We're continuing to think strategically about how we grow, how we invest, and how we position Fresno Pacific Athletics for long-term success. We're also excited to bring back the Sunbird Golf Classic on June 22 at Belmont Country Club, and we would love for you to join us for this event. Click here to register for the event. What gives me confidence is the alignment across our department and the people who continue to invest in what we're building.
Thank you for being part of this. Your support and belief in our student-athletes makes a real difference.
Soli Deo Gloria,
Kyle Ferguson
