TURLOCK, Calif. — No. 26 Fresno Pacific women's tennis defeated California State Stanislaus 5-2 on Thursday at the Stan State Tennis Courts. Fresno Pacific secured the doubles point and clinched the match with four singles wins, securing their sixth win in a row.
To start the afternoon, Fresno Pacific secured the doubles point decisively with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.
Halle Faherty and
Jessica McLean defeated Parker Orlando and Katrine Damjaer 6-3 on court two, while
Malia Mitchell and Margarita Munoz outplayed Maiah White and Emi Mikami 6-0 on court three. The No. 1 doubles match, featuring the nationally ranked No. 32 pair of Fabiana Lucia Gonzalez Gimenez and
Yume Ueoku, was left unfinished with no games completed.
In singles play,
Yume Ueoku opened the scoring for the Sunbirds at No. 1 singles, winning 6-2, 6-0 against Emma Yu.
Halle Faherty continued the momentum at No. 3 singles with a 6-0, 6-3 win against Katrine Damjaer, putting the Sunbirds within one point of clinching.
Jessica McLean had a hard-fought 6-4, 2-6, 10-4 win over Maiah White on court five.
Malia Mitchell added another point at No. 6 singles, defeating Emi Mikami 6-2, 6-1.
Fabiana Gonzalez clinched the match at No. 2 singles, posting a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Abbigail Mulick.
The No. 26 Sunbirds are 10-4 overall, boasting a six-win streak.
