Game Recap: Women's Water Polo |

Sunbirds Open Up Conference Play Against Otters

SEASIDE, Calif. - In a challenging conference matchup, the Fresno Pacific women's water polo team opened WWPA play against Cal State Monterey Bay on Tuesday afternoon. In the end, the 'Birds fell to the Otters 4-13, managing to score in each quarter.

Cal State Monterey Bay started the match strong scoring two goals in the first quarter to take the lead. Fresno Pacific's Dakota Lambert responded with a goal, but CSUMB extended its lead with additional goals in the second quarter, 1-5. Despite Lambert's efforts, scoring twice again for the Sunbirds, CSUMB continued to dominate with several more goals to secure the 13-4 victory.

Dakota Lambert led the Sunbirds' offensive effort with a hat trick on eight shots and contributed defensively with three steals and three exclusions drawn. Emma Cook added a goal, recorded three steals, and blocked a shot.

 In goal, Evalena Filippi made six saves to anchor the defensive performance.

The Sunbirds have a record of 5-12 overall and are now 0-1 in WWPA play.
