FRESNO, Calif. — Fresno Pacific baseball wrapped up their first home series of the 2026 season with a 10-3 victory over Western Oregon University on Saturday at Dan Martin Stadium, with the home team collecting 15 hits, including five doubles and a home run. The 'Birds split the series 2-2 with the Wolves, boosting their overall record to 5-3.
FPU and WOU each scored a run in the first inning.
Darryl Dilworth Jr. capitalized on a wild pitch to advance to second, followed by an RBI double from
Aaron Martinez Jr., tying the game at 1-1. In the third inning, the 'Birds broke the stalemate with a three-run surge. Martinez Jr. walked and eventually scored on a double by
Alex Lopez.
Chris Clement followed with a single, driving in Lopez, and
Tejean Smith's single added another run, putting the Sunbirds ahead 4-1 after three innings.
Fresno Pacific continued its offensive momentum in the fourth inning. Dilworth Jr. doubled and scored on a single by Martinez Jr., who later came home on another hit by Clement. This extended FPU's lead to 6-1. In the fifth,
Gabe Henderson hit a two-run home run, further increasing the advantage to 8-1. The Wolves managed a run in the sixth inning, but the Sunbirds' lead remained secure.
In the eighth inning,
Eric Wilson's double drove in Clement, and Wilson later scored on an error, bringing FPU's total to 10 runs. Western Oregon scored once more in the ninth, but the Sunbirds sealed a decisive 10-3 victory.
On the mound,
Drew Petty pitched 6 innings, allowing 4 hits and 2 runs, with only 1 earned, while walking 2 and striking out 3 batters. Petty secured the win, improving his record to 1-0.
Jacob Ruiz contributed 1 inning of hitless relief, issuing 1 walk and facing 4 batters without allowing a run.
Dylan Senneway followed with another scoreless inning, yielding no hits and striking out 1 while walking 1.
Cruz Cabral closed the game, giving up 1 hit and 1 earned run in his inning, walking 1 and allowing a double.
In the batting lienup, Martinez Jr. posted a strong performance with three hits, two RBIs, and two runs scored. Henderson contributed with a home run and drove in two runs, while also scoring once. Clement collected four hits, including a double, and tallied two RBIs and two runs. Dilworth Jr. crossed the plate three times, adding two hits and a double to his stats.
