Late Sunbird Comeback Falls Just Short Against Warriors

Peralta & Pennisi Collect Season Highs at Warrior Arena

ROCKLIN, Calif. - The Fresno Pacific men's basketball team had a strong showing in the tight contest against Jessup, but in the final minute, the Warriors pulled ahead 73-81 to win it all.

Fresno Pacific opened the game with a strong offensive push, highlighted by Isaac Peralta's early 3-pointer, which helped set the pace. Peralta, the sole Sunbird senior, continued to impact the game with a series of layups, contributing significantly to the team's scoring during the first half. The 'Birds managed to hold multiple brief leads, thanks to effective defense and scoring from the paint. The half concluded with Fresno Pacific trailing narrowly, 32–31, after a competitive back-and-forth sequence.

FPU fought hard in the second half, but a surge from Jessup midway through the half proved challenging. Liam Switzer opened with a layup to give the Blue and Orange a brief lead, but Jessup responded with a series of fast-break points, widening the gap. Despite efforts from Peralta and Logan Kilbert, who combined for several key baskets, the 'Birds struggled to close the deficit in the final minute, losing 73-81.

Peralta scored a season-high 23 points and added five rebounds, collecting a best in field goals (10) and 3-pointers (2). The Orange County native ranks second in the PacWest in assists (67) and averages 3.9 assists per game. Brandon Gibson Jr. contributed with 10 points and secured six rebounds while also recording two steals. Harrison Pennisi was a force on the boards, collecting a season-high 12 rebounds. Seth Brown made his mark from beyond the arc, hitting three 3-pointers and finishing with 11 points.

Fresno Pacific stands at 9-12 overall and 8-7 in PacWest play. The 'Birds are ranked sixth in the PacWest.
