VISALIA, Calif. - Former Sunbirds infielder Scott Laird has been named Head Coach of the baseball program at College of the Sequoias. Laird has been a part of the COS coaching staff for the past 13 seasons and replaces Jody Allen, who led the COS program for 32 years before retiring in April.
Laird spent two seasons playing for COS where he was a two-time all-conference selection and Team MVP before transferring to FPU in 2011. While at FPU he earned a bachelor's degree in Psychology, a master's in Kinesiology, and played two years for the Sunbirds. He then returned to COS as an assistant coach, coaching third base and leading their recruitment.
A Visalia native and Mt. Whitney High School graduate, Laird is also a full-time faculty member at College of the Sequoias. He and his family continue to reside in Visalia.
