FRESNO, Calif.- A pair of Sunbird seniors made their appearance on the All-PacWest baseball teams announced Tuesday afternoon by the conference.
For the second year in a row, outfielder
Trent Mallonee has earned All-PacWest honors, this year with a selection to the third-team. Mallonee started all 49 games for the Sunbirds. At the plate, the senior outfielder registered a .335 batting average (25
th in PacWest). Mallonee recorded a team-high 49 runs (3
rd in the PacWest), 5 HR's, with 64 hits (7
th in the PacWest), 24 RBI's, 20 walks, and 13 stolen bases (5
th in the PacWest). In the outfield, registered 146 put outs (21
st in the PacWest) and a .980 fielding percentage.
Joining Mallonee on the third-team was
Connor Semone, who earned his first ever All-PacWest selection as a starting pitcher. Semone started in 12 games for the 'Birds. On the mound, Semone earned a 4.05 ERA (9
th in the PacWest), pitched 85 innings (2
nd in the PacWest), struck out 70 batters (4
th in the PacWest), with 12 batters striking out looking (12th in PacWest), and a 1.30 WHIP. This season, Semone was two-time PacWest Pitcher of the Week and earnedNCBWA DII West Region Pitcher of the Week honors for his complete game performance against Western Oregon to start the year.
UP NEXT
Starting tomorrow, the Sunbirds will be hosting the PacWest Tournament. The tournament runs Wednesday to Friday (May 7-9). Tomorrow, #1 seed Westmont will face #4 Biola, while #2 Point Loma will face off with #3 Hawai`i Pacific. The losers of those two games will play at 11 a.m. on Thursday in an elimination game, and the winners will square off at 3 pm.
