FRESNO, Calif.-The Fresno Pacific Sunbirds dropped a hard-fought 5-2 decision to the Hawai'i Hilo Vulcans Saturday morning at the Haak Tennis Complex.
The Vulcans took the doubles point to grab the early lead and then won in straight sets at the No. 6 and No. 4 singles.
Junior
Daimy Paula earned the first singles win of the day winning in dominant style in straight sets 6-1, 6-1.Â
Malia Mitchell earned the next victory for the 'Birds, fighting back in three sets after winning the first 6-2, dropping the second 1-6, to take the third 6-1.Â
The Sunbirds battled to three sets at No. 3Â and No. 1, but came up short, as
Yume Ueoku fell 1-6, 6-3, 6-7 (5)Â at No. 1 and
Halle Faherty fell 4-6, 7-5, 5-7 at No. 3.Â
