FRESNO, Calif.- The Fresno Pacific Sunbirds kicked off the Fresno Pods with a BANG-ert, as the 'Birds registered a big win over the #29 Colorado Mesa Mavericks 5-2 Tuesday afternoon at the Haak Tennis Complex.
The Sunbirds secured the doubles point behind wins at No. 2 and 3.
Brodie Sodersten and Emilio Bangert, were the first to finish, securing the lone break to take the set 6-4.

Sven Bangert were not far behind at No. 1 doubles, dominating 6-3, taking the doubles point for the 'Birds.
After the Mavericks evened the match with a win at No. 3 singles, the 'Birds went back in front yet again with with a straight-set triumph by Ravil Nelson at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-1. The Sunbirds kept the momentum rolling with another straight-set victory, this time by Sodersten at No. 2 singles just needing one break to take the win, 6-4, 6-4.
The match clinching point came down to No. 6 singles, where Bangert pulled out the victory, 6-4, 6-4 to cement the 'Birds upset win.
Play continued after the clinch as the Mavericks took No. 5 singles, after a grueling third set battle that ended in a third set tiebreaker, as Seelbach's comeback fell short 1-6, 6-4, 7-6 (4).
The match ended on a high note for the 'Birds as
Gregor Kliimask took the win at No. 4 singles, after winning a third set tiebreaker after dropping the second set, 7-6 (4), 4-6, 10-5.

The Sunbirds will look to keep the winning rolling in the Fresno Pods as they face Metro State Friday, March 21st at 4pm at the Haak Tennis Complex.
