Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Sea Lions Slip Through Sunbirds' Talons

FRESNO, Calif. — In the second conference game of the season, Fresno Pacific men's basketball fell to Point Loma, 85-63, on Saturday at the Special Events Center. Despite the loss, Fresno Pacific saw significant contributions from its bench, which accounted for 37 of the team's total points.

The game commenced with Fresno Pacific taking an early lead, as Harrison Pennisi scored a layup at 19:25, assisted by Brandon Gibson Jr., setting the tone for the half. However, Point Loma responded with strong shooting from beyond the arc, which helped them maintain competitive pressure. Seth Brown's 3-pointer at 18:53 and Liam Switzer's contributions from the bench were crucial for FPU, but Point Loma's shooting accuracy, particularly from the three-point range, allowed them to edge ahead. The first half ended with the Sea Lions leading 44–32.

Fresno Pacific found a rhythm midway through the second half, fueled by Pennisi, who scored crucial points in the paint, including a layup at 9:05 assisted by Isaac Peralta. Despite a strong push, Point Loma's perimeter shooting, led by Tyce Paulsen, maintained their edge with a series of 3-pointers, widening the gap.

Making his return to the court, Nick Davidson contributed effectively to the Sunbirds' offense, adding key layups to trim the deficit. However, Point Loma's consistent field goals kept the home team from closing the gap significantly. The game concluded with the Sea Lions ahead of the Sunbirds, 85–63.

Davidson scored 19 points, making 7 of his 9 field goal attempts and converting 4 free throws. Switzer added 12 points and collected 8 rebounds, recording 5 field goals. Pennisi posted 12 points and 5 rebounds before fouling out of the game. Peralta contributed with 3 points and 2 steals while assisting on 2 baskets.
