Box Score FRESNO, Calif.- The Fresno Pacific Sunbirds fell 18-4 to the #19 Santa Clara Broncos Saturday afternoon at the Sullivan Aquatics Center.
The Bronocs and the Sunbirds both scored on their first offensive possession to open the game with the Sunbirds being awarded a penalty which
Forrest Gray converted.
Santa Clara would score three more goals unanswered as they took a 4-1 lead into the second period.
To open the second, the Broncos would add another trio of goals before the 'Birds would answer off the goal from Piettro Cattano on another penalty shot.
With two minutes left in the second, Fresno Pacific would find the back of the net again off the arm of Cattano to bring the 'Birds back within five.
The Broncos would add three more goals to end the second up 11-3.
Santa Clara scored three additional goals before Fresno Pacific would add one more goal in the third off a powerplay from Cattano to give him a trio of goals on the day.
The 'Birds would shut out offensively for the remainder of the game as the Broncos added to their tally with four more in the fourth to take the game 18-4.
Fresno Pacific will be back in action next weekend as they head down south for the Inland Empire Classic where they play a double header against LaVerne University at 10:30am and Claremont Mudds-Scripps at 4:30pm.
