BERKELEY, Calif.- After a busy stretch that has the Fresno Pacific track and field teams ranked among the top in Division II, Saturday's trip to the Brutus Hamilton Invitational gave the Sunbirds a chance to compete against more than the usual suspects.
Hope Erwin and
Elizabeth Naranjo delivered excellent performances in the shotput.
Erwin tied her lifetime best in the event while Naranjo was less than a meter shy of breaking her lifetime best mark on Saturday.
Kenahdi Haslip ran an 7th all-time effort in the 800m in her first collegiate effort in the event.
On the men's side
Garrett Fox ran a 400m for the first time and is now ranked 8th all-time in that event for FPU.
Will Jenkins made a mark in the PacWest rankings, delivering his PR in the hammer throw.
"We are staying focused on the big meets and training accordingly," head coach
Ray Winter said. "Not a lot of fireworks this week, which just means we are stockpiling them for a big opportunity next weekend in Southern California. Now we just have to stay healthy and focused on our goals."
The Sunbirds are back in action next week split across the Long Beach Invite and the Bryan Clay Invitational at Azusa.
