SURPRISE, ARIZONA.- A sixth place finish marked the end of the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds season Saturday morning as they fell to the Point Loma Sea Lions at the PacWest Championships 4-0 in the fifth place game.
Point Loma grabbed the momentum early and never looked back taking the doubles point with wins on Courts 2 and 1.
In the singles, the Sea Lions continued to take care of business with straight set wins on Courts 6, 1, and 4, clinching the match.
Brodie Sodersten on Court 2, Martin Ramirez on Court 3, and Sven Bangert on Court 5 were all up a set when play was halted.
At the conclusion of the match, Ben Cronau was announced as the winner of the PacWest Tennis Sportsmanship Award, an given to the player who displayed outstanding levels of sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
The Sunbirds will end the season with an overall record of 6-10 and a 4-6 record in conference play.
