SURPRISE, Arizona.- In a high note to end the season, the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds won their final match of the year 4-1 Thursday night at the PacWest Championships.
Wins on Court 1 by Nayuma Subba and Yume Ueoku 6-2 and on Court 3 by Halle Faherty and Daimy Paula 6-2 got the winning started early as the 'Birds took the doubles point.
Audrey Ouellet and Elise Leik were on serve on Court 2 4-3 when play was halted.
Leik kept the momentum rolling for the Sunbirds taking the first singles with a 6-2, 6-1 win on Court 4.
On Court 1, Subba kept up her strong tournament performance with another straight set win of her own 6-1, 7-6 (1).
The Warriors got their lone point of the match on Court 6 in straight sets.
Ouellet secured the match clinching point on Court 3 6-3, 6-4 giving the Sunbirds the 4-1 win.
Fresno Pacific will end the season with 6-14 overall record and a 3-10 record in PacWest Conference play.
The Sunbirds were also awarded a Third Team All-PacWest selection for Subba and a First-Team All PacWest Doubles selection for Subba and Ueoku.
