RESULTS
TURLOCK, Calif.- Saturday was filled with wins for the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds Track and Field team at the Kim Duyst Invitational.
The 'Birds racked up points in every discipline with depth and dominance.
"The first phase of our track season is now over," head coach
Ray Winter said. "And on the other side of spring break we will be competing in very large and high quality track meets in historic venues all the way through the end of the season."
Chavez Grey won the men's discus with a mark of 48.59m and the shot put with a throw of 16.06m while
Jesse Franco took the hammer with a throw of 59.24m.
Hope Erwin won the shot put on the women's side, finishing with a 12.88m throw.
Dejan Mileusnic and
Forrest Gray went 1-2 in the Javelin at 57.23m and 53.63m, respectively.
Elijah McDowell cleared 1.89m to take 1
st place in the high jump. The Sunbirds also faired well in the triple jump where
Devin Kelly and
Tamar Archie grabbed 2
nd and 4
th place.
On the track, the Sunbirds 4x100 relay continued its stellar year by winning the event.
Zavian Cook,
Shemar Palmer,
Noah Jimenez and
Garrett Fox finished in 40.86.
Alexis Ranger-Dunbar placed second in the 100m hurdles while Archie took 3
rd in the 110m hurdles on the men's side.
Kenahdi Haslip won the 400m and
Daniel Binns took 1
st among collegiate competitors in the men's event.
The Sunbirds had six of the top seven finishers in the 100m dash, with
Brianna Green winning the event at 12.04 (wind was 2.9).
Sariyah Copeland took third,
Nydia Chance fourth,
Ariana Vera placed fifth, while
Aubrianna Smith and Shaniya Randolph rounded out the dominant group of 'Birds.
Chance won the 200m while Randolph took 2
nd. Haslip finished fourth and Smith took 7
th as the women's sprint team continued to rack up points in Turlock.
Palmer won the men's 100m at 10.53 while
Garrett Fox took third at 10.59.
"We did a great job," Winter finished. "Overall, taking full advantage of this last early season meet to prepare for what will prove to be a very competitive season at the conference and national levels for us. Our men's team, and particularly our women's sprints squad, continue to shine very bright, and expectations are, likewise, very high."
