FRESNO, Calif.- The Fresno Pacific Sunbirds shutout the UC Merced Bobcats Saturday afternoon winning 10-0 at the Sunnyside Aquatics Center on Senior Day.
The first goal of the game came from Tatum Benson off the assist from Natalie Kisling.
With three minutes left in the first, Kisling added a goal of her own to give the 'Birds to the 2-0 lead into the second.
In the second, the Sunbirds continued to force turnovers and create saves shutting out the Bobcats.
The Sunbirds added to their growing lead with a pair of goals in the second from Hannah Walker and Sierra Coyne.
The third period gave FPU another trio of goals from seniors Emily Lopez-Ibarra, Kisling and Walker.
Up 7-0 heading into the fourth, the Sunbirds continued to deliver the clean sheet as Katie Whittingham dominated in goal with lock-down defense.
The fourth ended with three more goals for the 'Birds from Lopez-Ibarra, Emma Cook, and Bella Alcazar giving them the 10-0 win.
In goal, Whittingham recorded a season high 13 saves.
The Sunbirds registered another season high with 14 steals with Benson leading the way with five.
Fresno Pacific will head up north for a WWPA matchup with the Cal State East Bay Pioneers Friday at 1:00pm.
