SACRAMENTO, Calif.-The Sunbirds push towards postseason got a strong boost as
Nydia Chance and
Shemar Palmer led the rewriting of FPU's record book at the Hornet Invite on Saturday.
Palmer led the charge in the school record 4x400 relay, posting a 45.50 split, as the group finished in 3:10.59 with
Daniel Binns,
Zavian Cook, and
Kalobe JimenezĀ joining him in in the record books.
Chance, in her freshman year, wrote her name in the Fresno Pacific record books in three events while Palmer continued to impress in his first season, leading an overall strong performance from all Sunbirds.
But it was on the track where the most record changes were demanded.
Chance made it onto the FPU top 10 list in the 200, finishing at 24.39, the best time for any Sunbird in the event this season. Chance ran the 8
th fastest time in program history for the 200m.
Brianna Green's 24.47 was a PR and holds 10
th in school history.
Chance and Green also combined with
Ariana Vera and
Sariyah Copeland for the 4
th fastest time in school history for the 4x100 relay as the group took 3
rd with a 45.70 race.
Chance posted the best time this season in the 100m for FPU, and a PR, while making herself 4
th in school history with a time of 11.84.
Kennadhi Haslip put herself 9
th all-time in the 400m for Fresno Pacific, with her time of 56.84 also putting her 8
th at the event in Sacramento.
On the men's side, Palmer continued his stellar weekend by posting the fastest FPU time in the 400m since 1992. Palmer's 46.98 is the 2
nd fastest time in school history.
The 4x100 also tied forĀ 2nd in the school record books.

Garrett Fox combined to finish in 40.71.
Garrett Fox and
Shemar Palmer took 4
th and 5
th in the 200m while the PacWest had the four fastest collegiate runners.
Jacob Resendez was the runner-up in the 1500, just a second off his school record time while
Emanuel Salas moved up to 5th all-time in school history.
Bo Olsen took 2
nd in the 800, just off his season best with a time of 1:50.96.
Jesse Franco performed well in the hammer, taking third in a crowded field, behind a pair of throwers from Cal Berkley.
Adrian Hodges placed sixth in the triple jump with a mark of 14.43m.
In the 400m hurdles,
Kalobe Jimenez took 4
th.
In the javelin,
Dejan Mileusnic came in 2
nd with a throw of 63.23m and
Forrest Gray placed 6
th with a mark of 55.64m.
Chavez Grey also took 2
nd in the discus with a mark of 50.04m.
Lorraine Mankins moved up on the all-time pole vault list from Friday night.
Hope Erwin posted a season best 12.89 in the shot put, taking 8
th at the Hornet Invite.
FPU will be at both the Cal Poly Invite and in town at the West Coast Relays at Buchanan High School.
