Sunbird Sprinters Lead Record Revisions at Sac State

RESULTSĀ

SACRAMENTO, Calif.-
The Sunbirds push towards postseason got a strong boost as Nydia Chance and Shemar Palmer led the rewriting of FPU's record book at the Hornet Invite on Saturday.

Palmer led the charge in the school record 4x400 relay, posting a 45.50 split, as the group finished in 3:10.59 with Daniel Binns, Zavian Cook, and Kalobe JimenezĀ joining him in in the record books.

Chance, in her freshman year, wrote her name in the Fresno Pacific record books in three events while Palmer continued to impress in his first season, leading an overall strong performance from all Sunbirds.

But it was on the track where the most record changes were demanded.

Chance made it onto the FPU top 10 list in the 200, finishing at 24.39, the best time for any Sunbird in the event this season. Chance ran the 8th fastest time in program history for the 200m.

Brianna Green's 24.47 was a PR and holds 10th in school history.

Chance and Green also combined with Ariana Vera and Sariyah Copeland for the 4th fastest time in school history for the 4x100 relay as the group took 3rd with a 45.70 race.

Chance posted the best time this season in the 100m for FPU, and a PR, while making herself 4th in school history with a time of 11.84.

Kennadhi Haslip put herself 9th all-time in the 400m for Fresno Pacific, with her time of 56.84 also putting her 8th at the event in Sacramento.

On the men's side, Palmer continued his stellar weekend by posting the fastest FPU time in the 400m since 1992. Palmer's 46.98 is the 2nd fastest time in school history.

The 4x100 also tied forĀ 2nd in the school record books. Zavian Cook, Palmer, Ā Noah Jimenez, and Garrett Fox combined to finish in 40.71.

Garrett Fox and Shemar Palmer took 4th and 5th in the 200m while the PacWest had the four fastest collegiate runners.

Jacob Resendez was the runner-up in the 1500, just a second off his school record time while Emanuel Salas moved up to 5th all-time in school history.

Bo Olsen took 2nd in the 800, just off his season best with a time of 1:50.96.

Jesse Franco performed well in the hammer, taking third in a crowded field, behind a pair of throwers from Cal Berkley.

Adrian Hodges placed sixth in the triple jump with a mark of 14.43m.

In the 400m hurdles, Kalobe Jimenez took 4th.

In the javelin, Dejan Mileusnic came in 2nd with a throw of 63.23m and Forrest Gray placed 6th with a mark of 55.64m.
