FRESNO, Calif.- The sub explosion equated to the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds (19-7 overall, 13-5 PacWest) 79-57 trouncing of the Academy of Art Urban Knights (5-19 overall, 4-14 PacWest) Saturday evening in the Special Events Center.
FPU started hot but it was the bench exploded for 52 points as they completed the season sweep of the Urban Knights.
The Sunbirds rolled from the start with
Felicia Dourva bookending the first quarter with the first and last buckets of the quarter.
FPU led 17-8 after one quarter with 6 different Sunbirds scoring in the period.
The 'Birds furthered the lead in the second with Hurt leading the way with six points.
Olivia Garcia hit her second three of the game in the quarter to put FPU up 37-20 at the half.
Fresno Pacific also created havoc on defense, forcing 23 total turnovers in the game that led to a +10 on points off turnover.
The third quarter was the only period in which FPU was outscored by the guests but they bounced back to close out the game in the fourth.
While Dourva and Hurt both finished in double-figures, they were joined by three other Sunbirds for the first time this year.
Garcia led the bench with 12 points, while
Jayla Green had 11 and
Lydia Manu had 10.
Both Green and Manu were credited with 3 steals apiece.
Fresno Pacific hits the road next week for the final away game of the regular season against Westmont. They return home for the final time on March 2
nd against Azusa Pacific.
