"I thought our offensive performance was really clean" said head coach
C.J. Haydock. "Four guys in double figures and we got a ton of contributions across the board, and shot it really well from 3."
The offense was clicking early for the 'Birds who jumped out a quick lead behind layups from
Harrison Pennisi,
Gabriel Quiette, and a pair of threes from
Kyle Monk to led 12-8.
The Sunbirds continued to score as the Penguins manged to keep the game close coming within one at 20-19 with eight minutes remaining in the half.
A trio of layups from
Isaac Peralta, Quiette, and Pennisi gave the 'Birds their largest lead of the game so far at five.
Dominican rallied back for the lone tie of the game at 26-26 before the Sunbirds would score six unanswered with more points from Pennisi and Peralta.
The half ended with more team scoring for the Sunbirds as
Avery Lewis and

The second half started off strong with another three from Monk for his third of the game as the Sunbirds never looked back.
Points from Lewis, Peralta,
Jonah Geron, and
Alvar Peltoniemi would expand the Fresno Pacific lead to 16 with 12 minutes left in to play.
The Penguins attempted a comeback at one point coming within 10 at 66-56.
Fresno Pacific would score seven unanswered before the Penguins broke the drought
The remainder of the half was marked by more team scoring as five different Sunbirds combined for the final 22 points as time expired giving the Sunbirds the 88-72 lead.
In a game where Fresno Pacific never surrendered the lead, nine different Sunbirds added their name to the points collum.
The big four for the 'Birds were Peralta with 22, Monk at 17, and Lewis and Pennisi tied with 14 led the way.
"Just a good, comprehensive performance on both sides of the ball, against a team that's been scoring it prolifically the last couple of weeks" concluded Haydock. "We will attack our growth and prepare for a huge 3 game home stretch next week."
The home stand will continue for the Sunbirds who will be back in action against the Chaminade Silverswords Monday at 3:30pm at the Special Events Center.
