IRVINE, Calif - The FPU Men's soccer team fell to 1-2-0 in PacWest play Saturday after a 2-0 defeat away to Concordia University Irvine. Lucas Ribeiro and Chris Macias combined for 5 shots on target, but were unable to find the net in a very frustrating outing in Orange County.
The Sunbirds have now failed to beat CUI in their last 8 head-to-head matchups. FPU is 0-7-1 against the Eagles dating back to 2016.
The game was evenly matched in the shots department, as CUI narrowly edged out FPU 16 (5) - 14 (6). The Sunbirds failed to capitalize on a dominant first half where they outshot the Eagles 11-6. CUI keeper Andre Flores denied the 'Birds 5 times in the opening frame.
The win for the home side was their first in conference play this season.
The 'Birds get a week to reset before they are back in action against Westmont on Saturday. With eight PacWest clashes remaining, every game is crucial if they're to contend for postseason play. FPU kicks off at Westmont Saturday at 12:30pm PT, and the game will be streaming live on the PacWest Network.
