SANTA CLARITA, Calif.-A stagnant first half, slipped away after a hat trick and an eventual season-opening 4-0 loss for the Fresno Pacific Men's Soccer team Thursday night against The Master's University.
TMU's Kai Terentieff provided the ice breaker after more than a half hour, deflecting in the first goal for the Mustangs to put FPU in a 1-0 hole at the half.
That took a valiant effort from FPU keeper
Elmer Carballo who stopped nine other TMU shots, collecting three-quarters of his 12 saves in the first 45 minutes.
But Terentieff found the net two more times after the break to widen the advantage and Caden Zierenberg sealed the game with a 79
th minute score to go with his two assists.
The Sunbird offense delivered three shots on goal for the game and generated some late corners, but failed to score.
FPU will return to Fresno for its home opener Saturday night for a 7:00 p.m. contest against Jessup University on Ramirez Field.
