FRESNO, Calif.- The Fresno Pacific Sunbirds (5-5 overall) hit the fast forward button to squeeze in a 4-1 win over the Colorado Mesa Mavericks (6-10 overall) during a break in the rain Sunday afternoon at the Haak Tennis Complex.
A break in the rain allowed FPU to play out the PacWest match with significant postseason implications, pushing back an original 8:30 a.m. start time by six hours.
Sunbirds capitalized on the dry ground with
Lea Falentin and
Audrey Ouellet earning their second doubles win of the weekend with a 6-3 win on court no. 1.

Daimy Paula and
Sanne Brull were leading 5-4 when the point was clinched.
Colorado Mesa quickly tied the match with the first singles victory but Falentin delivered FPU's response with her third consecutive victory in #1 singles. The 6-2, 6-3 win improves Falentin, ranked 46
th in the nation by ITA, improves to 6-4 on the season.
Brull made quick work of the #4 singles pairing, winning 6-2, 6-2 to give FPU a 3-1 lead.
Subba closed it out, #61 in ITA singles, handed out a 6-3, 6-2 decision to clinch the match for FPU.
Paula, who started later due to the staggered times, ended unfinished but had taken the first set 6-1.
