FRESNO, Calif. –The Fresno Pacific Sunbirds ended the regular season with a 13-7 loss to the Concordia University Irvine Golden Eagles Saturday night at the William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center in Irvine.
The first period was all Golden Eagles scoring four unanswered as the Sunbirds came up short on all offensive possessions.
The first goal of the game for the 'Birds came early in the second period with
Eugenio Maldonado finding the back of the net off the assist from
Blake Johnson.
CUI would score again before
William Green would assist
Forrest Gray with the score, bringing the 'Birds back within three.
The Golden Eagles would score four more goals in the second to the Sunbirds lone goal from Gray to enter the third period up 9-3.
In the fifth minute of the third period the 'Birds would find the back of the net again off of a powerplay and assist from Maldonado to Green.
Both teams would trade a pair of goals before CUI ended the third with an additional goal to put themselves up by six 12-6.
The Sunbirds managed to create a pair of turnovers allowing
Pietro Cattano to score his first goal of the match.
The final goal of the game came for the Golden Eagles securing their victory 13-7 over the Sunbirds.
With the regular season over, Fresno Pacific will head to Illinois for the WWPA Championships hosted by McKendree University on November 17
th.
