SANTA BARBARA, Calif.- The Fresno Pacific Sunbirds dropped their first PacWest road match 4-0 to the Westmont Warriors Saturday afternoon in Santa Barbara.
The Sunbirds were on defense early and often in the first with Westmont recording their first shot less than one minute into the match.
The remainder of the first half was dominated by Westmont.
The Warriors recorded 13 shots, with the Sunbirds
Monique Nevarez recording ten saves.
For the first time all season, the Sunbirds were held shotless in the first half to even the score 0-0 going into the half.
Out of the half, the Warriors found their first goal of the match in the 54
th minute to take the lead 1-0.
Less than 10 minutes later, the Warriors expanded their lead 2-0.
The Sunbirds only offensive chance of the game came in the 65
th minute when
Brooke Uceda took a shot which
Maiya-Ann Serrao followed, but it was saved by Maya Pablos.
Westmont would record two more goals to take a commanding four goal lead heading into the final minutes of the match.
The Sunbirds offensive struggles continued as they failed to record another shot for the remainder of the game falling 4-0.
Fresno Pacific will continue their PacWest road trip next Saturday as they take on the Academy of Art at 2:30pm at CCSF Field.
