FRESNO, Calif.-Shauna Felix, a former Fresno State Volleyball player, has been named the interim head volleyball coach for the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds, athletic director Kyle Ferguson announced.
"We are thankful and blessed to have Shauna join our staff as the interim head coach," Ferguson said. "While her volleyball expertise is exceptional, we are most excited about her love for Christ and others, which will help guide these women throughout the remainder of the season."Â
Felix, who played for the Bulldogs from 1998-2002 returned to the Valley with her husband, Noel, and their family in 2017.
"I'm just excited to help these ladies have a terrific finish to their season," Felix said. "I'm focused on helping make an impact in their lives and I'm most excited to help make an impact for the kingdom of God."
Since moving back to Fresno, Felix started her own business, Give Culture, a clothing company that is a lifestyle brand of social consciousness. The brand's focus is to provide positive, inspirational shirts that help share the gospel.
Felix also created a non-profit in conjunction with the Center for Community Transformation at Fresno Pacific prior to 2020.
Felix's husband, Noel, played basketball at Fresno State and reached the NBA with the Seattle Supersonics in 2006.
They live in Fresno with their five children.
Felix will step in as interim for the remainder of the season after the previous coaching regime was let go.
A nationwide search for a full-time head coach will be conducted at the conclusion of the season.
