FPU Plays Dominican to 2-2 Draw, Remains atop NorCal Standings

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific men's soccer team played its' second overtime game of the week on Thursday, tying Dominican 2-2 after 110 minutes. The Sunbirds now sit at 3-1-1 in PacWest Norcal play, good enough for first place in the pod. 
 
SCORING:  
  • (6:04) Maxwell Ward connected with Eddie Silverbush to start the scoring, giving Dominican an early 1-0 lead. 
  • (31:51) FPU pulled even when Fellipe Souza found the back of the net in the 32nd minute. 
  • (51:58) After an offside against the Penguins, the home team quickly regained possession and struck again, with Ivan Galvan providing the score. 
  • (60:34) James Hernandez found Gabriel Monteiro, who connected on the equalizer for his first goal as a Sunbird. 
 
STATS FROM THE GAME:  
  • FPU outshot their hosts 16-12, but Dominican put four more shots on target. 
  • Patrick Timmer recorded five saves between the pipes for the Blue and Orange. 
 
UP NEXT:  
  • The Sunbirds return to the pitch on March 6, when they visit Holy Names to close out the season. Opening whistle is slated for 1:30 p.m.
