FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific men's basketball team welcomed Dominican into the Special Event Center for a PacWest NorCal Pod matchup on Tuesday night, coming away with a 79-62 victory. Reigning NorCal Player of the Week Aamondae Coleman led all scorers with 26 points, helping the Sunbirds improve to 5-0 in league action.  

QUOTABLE:  

• "I was impressed with our toughness and togetherness, and I thought our composure was really strong tonight against a feisty team. It's the culmination of who we are supposed to be.There is a clear link between our level of commitment and focus from our upperclassmen to where we want to be. Those guys want to be more than what we have been. A.J. Kirby only took one shot for us, but he came up with 10 rebounds and seven assists, and Aamondae only played 16 minutes. There aren't enough superlatives about our seniors and their maturity right now. The goals we have for ourselves are still in front of us, there's a lot of work to be done, and those guys will keep carrying us." – head coach C.J. Haydock. 

 
HOW IT HAPPENED:  

• The Sunbirds controlled the opening tip, paving the way for Spencer Heimerdinger to score the first bucket of the game. 
• Dominican stormed back from down six to tie the game at 24-24 with under three minutes to play in the first half. 
• FPU closed out the half with an 8-0 run that included five points from Adrian Antunez. 
• The Blue and Orange never took the foot off the gas after the break, going up by as many as 23 on a Coleman layup with just under 14 minutes remaining. 
• Even with the game will in hand, Kirby came away with an impressive block on Dominican's final possession of the game. 

 
STATS FROM THE GAME:  

• Coleman added seven rebounds to his 26-point performance. 
• Heimerdinger filled up the box score, scoring 17 points while going 7-for-11 from the field. 
• Raine McKeython scored 10 points with two rebounds and two assists. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:  

• The win extends the Sunbirds' current streak to six games over the Penguins. 
• Coleman is in fourth place on FPU's all-time scoring list. 

 
UP NEXT:  

• A rematch between the Sunbirds and the Penguins is scheduled for Friday inside the Special Events Center. Tipoff is slated for 5 p.m.
