Madron’s Hat Trick Leads Offensive Onslaught as ‘Birds Rout Hawks

FRESNO, Calif. – Mackenzie Madron delivered the first hat trick of her career, as FPU's offense erupted on Monday night to deliver a convincing 6-1 win over Holy Names.

QUOTABLE:
  • "I thought we were deliberate and urgent in our play. It was nice to see us attacking the way that we did. It was nice to see the shots coming from younger players. We were hoping to score more than two goals, and the way this one turned out was a lot of fun." – head coach Rob Podeyn
SCORING:
  • (20:46) Tori De Leon put the 'Birds on the board early with a goal that was assisted by Bryana Yoshida.
  • (28:27) Yoshida wasn't done handing out assists, as Mackenzie Madron hammered one home for the second Sunbird goal of the opening half.
  • (59:00) The second half scoring started for the Blue and Orange when Jet Hardy scored her first career goal off a pass from De Leon.
  • (61:36) Madron obtained her second goal of the night thanks to a pass from Hardy.
  • (62:21) Goal number two for De Leon was assisted by Madron.
  • (73:42) Madron completed the hat trick with a laser from just outside the 18' box.
