Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Souza’s Late Heroics Help ‘Birds Soar Past Hawks

FRESNO, Calif. – It took a golden goal from Fellipe Souza in the 97th minute, but the short-handed Fresno Pacific men's soccer team disposed of the Holy Names 1-0 on Monday evening.

QUOTABLE:
  • "It's huge. We kept our home winning streak alive. We worked hard for tonight's victory and to defend our turf. That was one of the better sides of Holy Names that I've seen in a long time. I'm so proud of the effort, particularly the defense. Timmer and the back four have been huge. Our midfield rotation paid off today. Right now, we are out creating our opponents, but just not finishing. Credit to our guys for hanging with it for hanging with it and forcing the mistake that led to our goal." – head coach Jaime Ramirez
SCORING:
  • (96:16) Souza took advantage of a ball that bounced over the HNU keeper's head and finished with an emphatic boot into the back of the net.
