Sunbirds Fall in Final Match of 2021 Season

IRVINE, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific University women's soccer team played their final match of the 2021 season on Saturday afternoon against Concordia. The Eagles found a goal in the first half that proved to be the game-winner, as they beat the Sunbirds 1-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • (29:55) CUI's Sophie Munoz snuck one past Chiara Soergel to put the Eagles up 1-0 over the Sunbirds.
  • After 45 minutes and nine saves from Soergel, FPU switched keepers to Birgitta Eggertsdottir who made eight saves in the second half.  
  • The Birds fired four shots throughout the match, with seven coming on goal, but the team couldn't find the equalizer. 

STATS FROM THE GAME 

  • Tori De Leon sent two shots, with one coming on goal in 90 minutes of play.
  • Ciana Rivera tied for a team-high two shots in 72 minutes on the pitch. 
  • Ana Paula Fraiz also tied for a team-high 2 shots in just 38 minutes.
