ROCKLIN, Calif. -  The Fresno Pacific women's soccer team opened the new season on Monday afternoon, defeating William Jessup 1-0 behind an 88^th minute goal off the foot of senior Alexis Macias.

HOW IT HAPPENED:  
·       Defense prevailed in the first half, as the teams went to the intermission with a scoreless tie. 
·      FPU saw a handful of opportunities in the second half, finally breaking through on the game-winner from Macias. 
 
STATS FROM THE GAME:  
·       Chiara Soergel spent all 90 minutes between the posts for the Sunbirds, recording her first career clean sheet.  
·       Bryana Yoshida was credited with FPU's first assist of the year. 
·       The Blue and Orange outshot their hosts 13-3, including a 7-0 mark on frame. 
 
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:  
·       The Sunbirds won their season opener for the first time since the 2015 season, when FPU blanked Cal State East Bay 2-0.
