Sunbirds Split Final Day of Convergence Tournament

CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific women's water polo team closed out the Convergence Tournament on Saturday, defeating St. Francis Brooklyn 8-3 before falling 15-9 against La Salle in the finale. 
 
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Sam Witt became the ninth Sunbird of the day to score, doing so in the third minute of the weekend finale to give the Blue and Orange an early edge. 
  • Zaninovich and Kisling each added a goal in the first half and Witt added her second goal of the day before the break, but the Explorers led 6-4 at halftime. 
  • La Salle put up big numbers over the final two quarters, outscoring FPU 9-5 in the second half.  
 
STATS FROM THE DAY:  
  • Witt and Kisling each scored four goals for the day, while Zaninovich totaled three. 
  • Camryn Berra picked up a two-game total of 15 saves in the cage.  
 
BEYOND THE BOX:  
  • Witt leads the team with 41 goals, while Zaninovich is second with 30. 
  • Berra has averaged just under nine saves per game.

  • The Sunbirds are at home next Saturday, when they host Cal State Monterey Bay at Sunnyside Aquatics Center at 1:00 p.m. FPU will follow with the Alumni Game at 3:00 p.m.
