RIVERSIDE, Calif. – For the first time in 264 days, the FPU women's basketball team took the court for competition against an outside opponent. The Sunbirds visited the Lancers of California Baptist in an exhibition game, falling 90-39 on Wednesday afternoon.
 
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

• Final: California Baptist 90, Fresno Pacific 39

QUOTABLE:

• "They're a really tough matchup. They are long, they play well. We had no connectivity offensively or defensively. That's why we wanted tonight. We can have no better teacher than a full game's worth of film that shows us doing some things well, but also realizing things we need to get better at." – head coach Tim Beauregard 

 
HOW IT HAPPENED: 

• The Lancers opened the game with a 9-4 run that lasted the first 5:20 of the game as seven of the nine points during the run came from the Lancers' Britney Thomas. 
• CBU created separation from the Sunbirds in second quarter with a 24-4 run that was aided by five three-pointers from the Lancers. 
• The Blue and Orange worked on closing the gap in the fourth quarter, scoring 14 points in the final frame. 

 
STATS FROM THE GAME: 

• FPU freshman Lydia Manu poured in eight points in her collegiate debut, the most of any Sunbird.   
• Fellow newcomer Breanna Hurt scored seven points while adding seven rebounds.    
• Freshmen Anisa Rillo and Vanessa Cochrane scored five points apiece. 
• Junior Megan Sheret was a glass eater, gobbling up nine rebounds. 
• As a team, the Sunbirds pulled down 43 rebounds.
