FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific men's soccer team picked up the first win of the season on Wednesday night, defeating Sonoma State 3-2 at Ramirez Field. The victory snaps a four-game losing skid for the Sunbirds, who will have another tough matchup in two days.

SCORING:
- (8:56) A free kick off the foot of Tony Torres found the head of Fellipe Souza, and Souza turned it into the first goal of the night.
- (38:22) Torres picked up his second assist of the game with a quick cross in the box to Brian Leyva, who put a ball right in the center of the net to push the lead to 2-0 to close out the half.
- (46:47) A Sunbird miscue allowed Sonoma State's Sebastian Santos to come away with the ball and fire just inside the far post to get the Seawolves on the board.
- (51:13) Leyva connected again to the lower left corner behind assists from Hugo Hernandez and James Hernandez.
- (59:14) Oliver Ziemer chipped the ball around the FPU keeper for an easy score, but the Seawolves would get no closer the rest of the way.
STATS FROM THE GAME:
- FPU outshot their guests 14-10, including a 6-4 mark in shots on frame.
- FPU keeper Patrick Timmer racked up a pair of saves between the posts for FPU.
BEYOND THE BOX:
- The Sunbirds had scored a total of one goal in the previous four games before Wednesday's offensive eruption.
